Meet Miss New York USA Finalist MonaLesa Diamond Brackett !
Brooklyn’s MonaLesa Diamond Brackett to Take the Stage in Albany this August !
MonaLesa Diamond Brackett, 35, of Brooklyn, NY, will compete for the title of Miss New York USA 2025 from August 15-17 at the Albany Hilton. A proud Black American Muslim, MonaLesa will compete in full modesty, including hijab and burkini, making history as one of the few women to represent modest fashion at this level of pageantry.
An NYC educator, licensed real estate agent, founder of two mission-driven companies, and world traveler, MonaLesa’s work centers on housing the homeless, empowering underserved youth. She is also a health advocate undergoing genetic testing for Gardner’s Syndrome, a rare condition linked to colon cancer; the same disease that claimed her mother, the original MonaLesa, in 2018. A former Miss New York Teen USA 2006 contestant, MonaLesa returns to the pageant stage after more than a decade away, inspired by the recent removal of the age cap and driven to honor her mother’s legacy.
“I’m showing up for every woman who thought her time had passed,” says MonaLesa.
“Faith, grief, healing, beauty, resilience, we can have it all.” The winner of Miss New York USA will advance to compete at Miss USA 2025 and potentially Miss Universe. MonaLesa is available for interviews on topics including pageantry, Islam, modest fashion, resilience, weight loss, and women’s health.
