Be the Message: Angel Simmons Using Her Voice, Vision, and Purpose to Inspire the World

From the south side of Chicago to stages, screens, and platforms across the country, Angel Simmons has become a powerful force of inspiration, creativity, advocacy, and purpose. A true multi-talented artist, Angel has built a dynamic career rooted in storytelling, healing, leadership, and empowerment while using every gift she possesses to uplift and impact others.

Angel Simmons is much more than a titleholder or entertainer. She is an accomplished author, actress, advocate, entrepreneur, mentor, podcaster, professional coach, producer, runway and print model, speaker, and storyteller whose influence continues to grow across multiple industries. Her journey is a testament to what can happen when passion, resilience, compassion, and purpose align.

Throughout her career, Angel has been featured in books, magazines, the Chicago Tribune, Crain’s Chicago Business, Christian music projects, and numerous radio and television appearances. Her ability to connect authentically with audiences has made her voice both relatable and impactful.

In the pageant world, Angel has used her platform to promote purpose-driven leadership and community engagement. Her accomplishments include being crowned the 2018-2019 Ms. Northern Illinois Royalty for the Illinois Royalty Charity Pageant, the 2019-2020 Ms. Illinois Elite for the United America Pageant, and the 2025-2026 Ms. Midwest Revolutionary Purpose. Most recently, she achieved another major milestone by being crowned the 2026-2027 Ms. Revolutionary Purpose World for the Revolutionary Pageant System.

Today, she continues to serve the pageant community as the National Coordinator for reigning queens, kings, and delegates for The Ultimate Universe Pageant System, helping guide and mentor titleholders as they walk confidently in purpose and leadership.

Yet behind the crowns, accomplishments, and accolades lies a much deeper mission — one born from personal loss and transformed into advocacy.

Angel’s passion for mental health awareness and suicide prevention began during her junior year of high school when she lost her friend, Christopher Bruce, to suicide. That heartbreaking experience became the foundation of her “why” and ultimately shaped the purpose-driven work she carries out today.

Exactly twenty years after that tragedy, Angel became a Field Advocate for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and later became a team captain for their annual suicide prevention walk. Her advocacy work is deeply personal and fueled by a desire to create meaningful change in communities that are often underserved and overlooked.

“Suicide is the third leading cause of death in my state for ages 15 to 24,” Angel shares. “That fact has not changed since I started this advocacy work.”

Through education, storytelling, and outreach, Angel works tirelessly to challenge stigmas and stereotypes surrounding mental health, especially within minority communities and vulnerable populations. She believes compassion, empathy, resources, and understanding can save lives.

“I believe my friend would still be alive today if not for such a critical lack of compassion, empathy, resources, and understanding desperately needed in minority communities and vulnerable populations,” she says.

Her mission extends far beyond awareness campaigns. Whether supporting charities focused on mental health and suicide prevention, serving grieving families of children with chronic or terminal illnesses, helping forgotten pets become emotional support animals, providing groceries for families in crisis, or creating safe spaces for marginalized individuals, Angel’s life reflects a heart committed to service.

“Part of my purpose is using all of my energy, time, and talent to be a LIGHT,” she explains.

That same spirit of healing and empowerment is reflected in her literary work. Angel is the author of Love’s Great Design: Uncovering the Power and Purpose of Human Relationship, a 52-week devotional, and TARGET of LOVE: Surviving Narcissistic Abuse. Through her books, she encourages readers to pursue healing, self-awareness, emotional wellness, and meaningful relationships.

Her love for storytelling extends beyond the written word. Angel is the host and producer of the Verses, Vibes & Visions Live Lit Series and formerly co-hosted the Do Not Submit Storytelling Open Mic Show in Englewood. Through spoken word, storytelling, and live conversations, she creates spaces where authenticity, vulnerability, and healing can flourish.

Angel’s talents have also made an impact in film and television. Her acting resume includes appearances in eight films, sixteen television series, one commercial, and an educational training video for the Florida Council Against Sexual Assault. She is also the lead actress in the impactful stage production My Last Party, sponsored by The REECH Project, which focuses on suicide awareness and prevention.

In the fashion and modeling industry, Angel continues to shine with elegance and confidence. Her modeling accomplishments include three charity ambassador titles, numerous promotional campaigns for local designers, twelve international magazine features, more than twenty professional photo shoots, and nearly one hundred runway shows.

Education and continuous learning have also remained central to her journey. Angel earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia College Chicago and later received a diploma in Mental Health Coaching from Light University. Additionally, she has obtained more than 100 professional certifications in grief and loss coaching, relationship coaching, cognitive behavior therapy life coaching, stress management, trauma, wellness, suicide prevention, and many other areas focused on helping people heal and thrive.

Through her company, The Message Media LLC, Angel provides event and media services, professional coaching, self-help resources, and inspirational merchandise designed to empower others to walk boldly in healing and purpose.

At the core of everything Angel Simmons does is a desire to inspire others to rise from darkness, reclaim their voice, and embrace wellness fully. Her mission is not only to succeed personally, but to reach back and help others find the courage to survive, heal, and shine.

“I hope to always inspire others to live fully, embody wellness, and find their courage and voice to reach back and pull someone else from the ashes and darkness of their struggles.”

Through advocacy, storytelling, leadership, and service, Angel Simmons continues to prove that purpose is most powerful when it is used to bring light into the lives of others.
