“Let’s heal together, let’s turn our pain into gain.”
These are more than just words for Dr. Michelle D. Saxton—they’re a personal promise and guiding principle behind every role she steps into: entrepreneur, speaker, advocate, survivor, and beacon of strength.
Dr. Saxton is the proud founder and owner of Mia’s Savvy Courier Service, a business born out of a simple inconvenience that grew into a lifeline for clients in need of fast, reliable service. She’s also the visionary behind the M.I.A. (Missing In Action) Grief Support Group, a platform of healing built from personal heartbreak. And if that wasn’t enough, she serves as the Executive Producer and host of The “Now What?” Show w/ Mia, a talk show that challenges people to reflect, rise, and respond to life’s toughest moments.
Yet with all of these commitments, Michelle still finds time to embrace what matters most—family, friends, faith, and authenticity.
A Journey of Triumph Through Tragedy
Michelle’s life has been marked by unimaginable loss. In a span of four years, she lost her father (2000), her mother (2002), and her husband (2004)—each grief hitting like waves, one after the other. “Every two years, my heavy hitters were taken away from me,” she reflects. “I was mad at God for four years.”
But her story didn’t end in sorrow. It shifted toward strength.
In February 2024, Michelle was diagnosed with breast cancer—a diagnosis that could have broken her spirit. Instead, it ignited her faith. She leaned on her village, sought support, and poured herself into helping others, using her platforms as a vehicle for healing and encouragement.
“Helping others helped my mental to be able to keep my platforms and business thriving,” she shares. “Even when I don’t have one copper penny to give, I still give a smile and an encouraging word.”
Healing with Purpose
What sets Michelle apart is how she transforms adversity into action. The “Now What?” Show w/ Mia was born from the realization that everyone faces challenges—but the question is, what’s next? Do you sit in sorrow or do you seek support and healing?
Similarly, M.I.A. was created to give grieving hearts a place to feel seen, heard, and understood. “My brands are simply the outcomes of my going-throughs,” she says, with powerful simplicity.
Through it all, Michelle remains grounded: “I’ve realized that success and perseverance are amazing to have—but it shouldn’t come at the cost of your soul.”
Fashion, Faith & Fierceness
As a plus-size model and former Ms. Texas Plus America 2022, Dr. Saxton carries herself with grace and chic professionalism. She uses fashion as a tool for empowerment, reminding women that beauty is not defined by size but by confidence and self-love.
And though many admire her for her strength, Michelle admits she’s still learning to pour into herself: “I’ve taken off my superwoman cape. For me, self-care means keeping the faith, using therapy, and choosing peace.”
Legacy in Motion
Among her many accolades—Amazon Best-Selling Author, 2022 Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Honorary Doctorate honoree, and Michelle D. Saxton Day in Houston—perhaps what matters most to Michelle is how she makes others feel.
“I continue to treat others as I would like to be treated,” she says. “My prayer is that the works I’ve done speak for me.”
What’s Next?
Dr. Saxton’s dreams are as bold as her impact. She’s working to syndicate The “Now What?” Show w/ Mia and expand her courier service with more corporate accounts. But above all, she’s committed to staying teachable, delegating with grace, and trusting the process.
“My desires are always what God allows,” she says. “And what brings me joy is the fact that He keeps giving me chances to get it right.”
To the next generation of women: “Never allow anyone to talk you out of your dreams. Never say never. Be consistent, and put in the work.”
