With a contagious smile and unstoppable drive, Kendra Franklin is redefining what it means to wear a crown. From the pool to the pageant stage, this Indiana native proves that authenticity, perseverance, and a little sparkle can truly change lives.

A New Chapter, A Healthier Path

Currently working as a babysitter, Kendra made a courageous pivot from a previous job that affected her mental health. “I started babysitting a few months ago after realizing my old job was taking a toll on me,” she shares. “This has been a positive shift, giving me time to focus on my well-being and passions.”

Two Decades of Dedication

Kendra has been involved with Special Olympics Indiana for over 20 years, competing in nearly every sport offered. More than just an athlete, she serves as an Athlete Leader and recently completed her term as the Indiana Athlete Leadership Council Chairperson and member of the Board of Directors (2022-2025).

Crowned Miss Circle City Indy 2025

In 2025, Kendra earned the title of Miss Circle City Indy, representing the pageant with joy, pride, and purpose. Her journey also includes involvement with Indiana Miss Amazing since 2023 and placing 1st Runner-Up in the 2024 National Miss Amazing competition.

“Pageants aren’t just about the tiaras and runways,” Kendra explains. “They’re about building self-confidence and gaining important life skills like interviewing and learning how to carry yourself in public.”

Swim, Sparkle, and Service

One of Kendra’s proudest achievements was representing Team Indiana in Swimming at the 2022 USA Games, and she’s been selected again for the 2026 Games.

“I’m training hard,” she says with determination, “and I’m also hoping to get involved in the Elvis FANsty Festival in Portage, Indiana.” A die-hard fan of Elvis Presley, she’s a regular at Dean Z: The Ultimate Elvis concerts and calls herself “probably the biggest Elvis fan in Indiana.”

Living Authentically

Diagnosed with autism and ADHD, Kendra is an advocate for inclusion and resilience. “Navigating the world has been a challenge,” she admits, “but with help and grace, I’ve achieved goals like getting my driver’s license and becoming a licensed cosmetologist.”

Mark Your Calendar

Kendra encourages the community to get involved with year-round Special Olympics events like the:
– Firetruck Pull – August 9 in Lawrenceburg, IN
– Plane Pull – August 23 in Indianapolis, IN

“Special Olympics isn’t just once a year. Once you’re involved, you’re hooked.”
