Name: Dawn N. Sanchez

Family dynamics: The family dynamics during my upbringing were positive. I gained significant insights from my mother, father, and great-great-great-grandmother. Each of these remarkable individuals has contributed a part of themselves to shape my morals and values. My grandmother, as the matriarch, firmly established her faith in the teachings of God. Unbeknownst to her, her reading of the Bible instilled in me an understanding of faith and the importance of holding onto it during challenging times. My father, a gentle and soft-spoken communicator, provided me with a model for effective communication with individuals from diverse backgrounds and educational levels. He also taught me the importance of dressing well and being prepared for the camera. Meanwhile,
my mother continues to impart valuable lessons on aging gracefully. As she celebrates her 79th birthday this year, she remains a source of financial wisdom and guidance on how to maintain a classy demeanor. I still seek my mother’s advice and take pride in being her daughter.

Hobbies/Pastimes: My hobbies are weight lifting, spending time with friends and family, and traveling!

Business/Talent? My business started with Diamond Dynasty, and as I became more polished and shifted, I have rebranded myself and my New Business Name is: Legacy. Master Public speaker and Speech writer.

Where are you from? Where do you live? I am from the South Side of Chicago, and I now live in New Hampshire (The New England State)

What are you passionate about? What’s the driving force behind it? I have a deep passion for the utilization of our voice. The voice serves as a potent instrument, yet many individuals are unaware of how to wield it effectively and with impact. The motivation fueling my passion stems from my lifelong experience of using my voice to create change. In our youth, we often fail to recognize our true
significance until someone brings it to our attention. I have honed my abilities, and I am now assisting others in doing likewise.

What’s your skill set? My expertise encompasses the capability to deliver compelling speeches as well as to compose them. These are the kinds of speeches that create significant impact and foster positive transformations.

What sets you apart from others in your field? What distinguishes me is my voice. I have honed my skills, and I have established My Brand through my voice.

What’s your purpose in life? My life’s mission is to assist those who lack a voice in discovering their own and enhancing that ability.

If you could choose any career in the world, would you still choose the career or talent you have? I would still opt for this path. Interestingly, I resisted becoming a teacher due to my struggles in school, having been diagnosed with a learning disability. However, once I understood how my brain functioned, I became unstoppable. I do not regret the path that the Lord has set for me, and I would
affirmatively choose this career path again without hesitation.

What would you tell your younger self? Oh dear, I would advise my younger self that you are destined to achieve far greater things than you can possibly envision. Continue your journey and do not concern yourself with those who fail to
comprehend your purpose, provided that you grasp your own objectives.

Knowing what you know now, would you change anything in your past? No, I
would not change anything in the past because even mistakes are teachable moments, so without them, how can one grow?!

Who are your role models? This is challenging due to the numerous role models I have. My mother stands out as my primary role model because when she was told “No,” she demonstrated her capability to overcome that rejection. A black
woman from Mississippi, she moved to Illinois with the intention of purchasing a home before she met my father. Despite being single, she was told “No,” yet she not only acquired that home but also established her own business. She has faced
countless obstacles and continues to persevere. I take immense pride in her, and I aspire daily to emulate her strength. Additionally, my husband serves as another role model; he is a member of the United States Marines, engaged in combat while simultaneously confronting his own struggles. And a friend with whom I have cultivated a meaningful relationship. They confront challenges every day,
and one would never suspect it. These individuals are my heroes.

What would you say to those who are starting in your field? Ensure that you present your authentic self. Oscar Wilde remarked, “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” It is essential to remain true to your identity and to cultivate your own voice.

What is your favorite quote? Explain? My favorite quote is attributed to Ruth Bader Ginsburg: “If your voice were truly without power, there would be no reason to suppress it.” This statement resonates profoundly in today’s context. It
holds significance now because there are individuals attempting to silence us; they understand that our collective voice has the potential to instigate change and dismantle barriers. I am reminded of the biblical account where the Israelites, under Joshua’s leadership, encircled the city of Jericho, and on the seventh day, they raised their voices, causing the walls of Jericho to collapse. Our united voice
can indeed break down barriers, but if we allow our voices to fall silent, then they emerge victorious.

What or who has inspired your gift/vision? My inspiration comes from a who and a what. All my gifts, vision, and talents come from the Lord. I am not that smart (lol), I can’t do anything without the Holy Spirit.

What is your favorite holiday and why?
My preferred holiday is Christmas. I have numerous memories of my mother and I visiting downtown Chicago to admire the Marshfield Windows featuring the Nutcracker Scene. We would drive through the neighborhoods to view the Christmas lights. This evokes such a delightful memory that I would take my mother to New York to see their Christmas displays in the windows.

Do you have any regrets? If so, what are they, and what would you do to rectify those thoughts?

No regrets in my life because I have been taught valuable lessons from things; however, I wish I had learned the lesson sooner.

What has been your biggest accomplishment? My most significant achievement is obtaining my Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Media with Magna Cum Laude honors, as well as earning my Master’s in Organizational Leadership with
distinction within a span of 3.5 years. I recall being informed during High School that I would never attend a university and obtain a degree due to the severity of my learning disability, yet here I stand!

What’s a fun fact about you? Fun fact about me is that I love singing Opera, yes, I know a Black woman not singing Gospel or R&B, which I can, but Opera is my jam.

If you could be any animal, what would you be and why? If I had the opportunity to select any animal in the world, I would choose to be an elephant. This is because they possess feelings and emotions akin to those of humans. They move in groups, they have a sense of community, and they embody both strength and gentleness. They commemorate life and mourn death, and I would always wish to
retain those emotions.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? I see myself as a Household name. Someone who has changed the trajectory of the world for the better. I see myself financially blessed.

If you could leave a lasting legacy, what would that look like? If I were to consider leaving a legacy? I am indeed leaving a legacy, beginning at this very moment. As a professor in Higher Education, I have been invited to address schools, churches, and businesses. I am establishing my legacy and my brand, which is represented by my voice. I feel incredibly fortunate that my words alone
have contributed to and will persist in shaping my legacy.
